Where the Wild Things Are

This is the power of gathering: it inspires us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful; in a word, more alive. ~ Alice Waters

Our gatherings are most every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 117 Evans Drive in north Fort Collins. Childcare is available (please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements).

We hope our paths cross soon!

Sunday,
July 30th

This Sunday, we delve into our relationships with other creatures with which we share this precious earth.  As humans, we tend to separate ourselves from other species, seeing ourselves as more “highly developed” or above others in the the animal kingdom.  But is that really so? Let’s explore our interrelatedness and how other animals profoundly affect our lives.

“Every animal has his or her story, his or her thoughts, daydreams, and interests. All feel joy and love, pain and fear, as we now know beyond any shadow of a doubt. All deserve that the human animal afford them the respect of being cared for with great consideration for those interests or left in peace.” ~ Ingrid Newkirk

“To be human does not mean to have fled animality, but on the contrary to live within it and to let it live within us…we are animals and animals are us.” ~ Dominique Lestel

Be a good animal, true to your animal instincts. ~  D. H. Lawrence

‘Gratitudes’

What a joy it is to break bread together at our (mostly) monthly potlucks!  Thanks to the all who joined us, brought yummy dishes, and helped with clean-up.  It was a glorious afternoon!

Sunday,
July 23rd

Thank you for your patience while we got things back on an even keel at Paths of Heart.  You’ll be happy to hear the new air conditioning has been installed! There are still other repairs to be done after our lightning strike, but we’re far enough along to feel comfortable hosting our gatherings again.  As we ease back in, we thought it’d be fun to do another“Poetry Sunday”. What’s up for you this summer?  Share your thoughts with a poem of your own making or choosing.  It’s Potluck Sunday as well, so we hope you can join us in the backyard after our gathering. Bring a dish to share and your own re-usable/washable plates and utensils (we aim for near zero waste).  We’ll provide napkins, cups, and a variety of beverages.  Welcome home!

‘Gratitudes’

We are so grateful that, even with the damage incurred with our lightning strike, that no one was injured and we still had a house to come home to (we weren’t even there when it happened!).
When all is said and done, it’s really just an inconvenience, and there is SO much to be grateful for…always.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

Sunday,
July 16th

We apologize for having to cancel again so soon!  Those of you who gathered with us this morning heard about our “unexpected” lightning strike at “Paths of Heart Heartquarters”!  Colleen and Emma leave tonight for gigs and fun on the East Coast, and Mark will stay in Fort Collins, meeting with contractors, etc. throughout the week to assess and repair the damage.  We’re giving him Sunday off at the end of what will surely be a very busy week.  See you on the 23rd, and we’ll celebrate with a potluck in the backyard!
