This Sunday, Mark, Colleen, Myles and Emma are taking the day “off” (really, ON!) to spend time as a family and record some music that’s been wanting to come out and play.  We’re excited about that and are taking all your hearts with us in this endeavor!  Enjoy the day and see you next week, July 9th!

Sunday,
June 25th

This Sunday we’ll discuss the people who have truly inspired us along our path.  At some point in our lives, we have all had a hero, mentor, friend, or family member who has had an indelible, positive influence on us, who has given us motivation and strength to follow our dreams, or simply to carry on in difficult times.  Frank Bonifazi will share a tribute and song for his recently-passed father, Truman, and we invite you to bring your stories of inspiration as well.

Sunday,
June 18th

The Summer Solstice is “on the horizon” and we’re celebrating fathers and father energy today, so we’ll (among other things, we’re sure!) explore the mythology of “Father Sun” and see how we can apply ancient wisdom to our everyday lives.

“Egyptians called him Ra
To the Greeks He was Helios
The Romans, borrowing from the Greeks, called Him Apollo
Baldur or Odin were His Norse appellations
Ancient Irish traditions referred to Him as Dagda
Persian culture called Him Mithras
In the Anglo-Celtic mythos He was the Oak or Holly King, and of course,
Native Americans called Him, perhaps most directly, Father Sun.” ~ harmonicconcordance.org

“Science gives us some idea of the magnificence and power of that glowing orb which each day ‘rises’ in our eastern sky, banishing calm night, warming and sustaining all creatures and things. But in a quiet corner of our consciousness there is the feeling, the certainty, that the reality is far more splendid than what we see.”

~ John P. Van Mater

There’s been lots of planting going on around here lately and it got us to thinking how we can apply that to life. Back in the fall we talked about “God in the Garden”. Think of this as the Spring/Summer edition!  What kind of seeds have you been planting?….

We’re having our monthly potluck after our 10:30 gathering (details below), so what better time to talk about community?  I’m sure we can all think of many that we “belong” to – family, spiritual, a circle of friends, work-related, local, global….
Let’s explore these different types of community and what meaning they hold for us.

It can be challenging to stay centered in love these days, with so many facets of division and fear swirling around us – in our communities, in our nation, in our world.  We’ll explore some ideas and techniques of how to do just that as we journey to the center of our hearts this Sunday!

Have you ever felt lost….like the person you used to be or thought you were has somehow gotten buried beneath the every day minutia or even perceived tragedy of what life sometimes “throws” us? How do you “get your groove back”?  That’s what we’ll discuss this week!  Emma Sloniker has an amazing song to sing for us….

“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.” – Henry David Thoreau

“Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.” ~ Hugh Prather

“Sometimes you have to kind of die inside in order to rise from your own ashes and believe in yourself and love yourself to become a new person.”
~ Gerard Way

“It is good to feel lost… because it proves you have a navigational sense of where “Home” is. You know that a place that feels like being found exists. And maybe your current location isn’t that place but, Hallelujah, that unsettled, uneasy feeling of lost-ness just brought you closer to it.” ~ Erika Harris

Sunday, May 7th

We are pleased to have Hana Zara as our music guest this Sunday, following her Friday night performance at our “Paths of Heart Presents…” Concert Series (more info on that below!).

We’ll be exploring forgiveness during our gathering.  When we experience an injustice, it’s easy to allow anger, resentment, or revenge to fill our hearts.  If we are experiencing upset or imbalance, the place to look is inside ourselves, not at the circumstance we perceive as causing the problem.  Forgiveness brings freedom and allows peace within ourselves.

“Forgiveness is inherently powerful enough to extend itself wholly and completely to us even when we are the ones in need of forgiving ourselves.” ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough

“I choose ….to live by choice, not by chance:

to make changes, not excuses;

to be motivated, not manipulated;

to be useful, not used;

to excel, not compete.

I choose self-esteem, not self-pity.

I choose to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinion of others.”

~ Skarleth Hdz

“We can always choose love, forgiveness, and compassion over bitterness and anger.”~ Scarlett Lewis
