The Path to Freedom

Sunday, June 30th
The Path to Freedom
With Independence Day approaching, we thought we’d revisit the multi-faceted concept of freedom.  We all want to “live free”, and sometimes we nevertheless create prisons of our own making!  What are your experiences of living a life of freedom, and what wisdom can you impart to otherswho are feeling “stuck” as they seek a more enjoyable, freedom-filled life?

Quotes to ponder
“The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people….every day.”
David Foster Wallace

“Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.”
~ Mahatma Gandhi

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.”  ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Spontaneity!

Sunday, June 23rd
Spontaneity!

This Sunday, Colleen is “flying solo”, as Mark and Myles will be off playing a benefit gig.  But she might NOT end up flying solo, as she’s got some ideas up her sleeve.  But we don’t know which ideas are going to “fly” along with her, so it’ll be a surprise!  Don’t you love being spontaneous at times?  It’s a very freeing feeling, not being tied to one thing or another.  Come be a part of the magic!

Quotes to ponder

“No matter how many plans you make or how much in control you are, life is always winging it.” ~ Carroll Bryant

“Through spontaneity we are re-formed into ourselves.” ~ Viola Spolin

“If you follow a recipe for life, spontaneity will be cooked.” ~ Khang Kijarro Nguyen

“Spontaneity is one of the joys of existence, especially if you prepare for it in advance.” ~ Alan Dean Foster

Father’s Day

Sunday, June 16th
Father’s Day

We’ll be honoring Father Energy in its many forms this Sunday.  What does it take to make a father?  Well, a mother and kids sure help (among other things, like, for example: ties, cigars, golf clubs, Cardigans, Izod shirts, fishing gear)… 🙂  BUT maybe there’s something else in this quotient that’s beyond apparel…What does fatherhood mean to you?  Bring your memories and insights!

Quotes to ponder

“I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by the little scraps of wisdom.” ~ Umberto Eco

“Being a father has been, without a doubt, my greatest source of achievement, pride and inspiration. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back and taught me how to be a better person.” ~ Naveen Jain

“To her, the name of father was another name for love.” ~ Fanny Fern

Looking Ahead/Notes of Interest
