Making Friends with Death

This is the power of gathering: it inspires us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful; in a word, more alive. ~ Alice Waters

Welcome to Paths of Heart“- a high spirited, heart-centered community where we gather together in music, poetry, commentary, and dialogue to create and nurture joy, compassion, gratitude, and love – in our own lives and throughout the world.  Paths of Heart is a 501(c)(3) Human Services/Educational non-profit organization that uses the arts, especially, to encourage and propel seekers of a better, more peaceful world to find ways to serve, while becoming more kind and compassionate human beings.

We welcome you as we collectively and individually explore the sweet mysteries of life – this is an invitation into co-creation! Our gatherings are most every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 117 Evans Drive in north Fort Collins. Childcare is available (please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements).

We hope our paths cross soon!

Making Friends with Death

Author Laura Pritchett will be our guest speaker this Sunday at Paths of Heart.  She will be discussing themes from her recently published book, Making Friends with Death.  Laura broaches this sacred and scary topic with warmth, research, and humor, and helps us greet death as an old friend rather than a spooky stranger.  Myles Sloniker will also be a featured music guest this Sunday.  Also, please note this Sunday is the start of Daylight Saving Time!  Set your clocks AHEAD one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night or you’ll miss out on this thought provoking gathering!

“My position on death?  I’m totally against it.  That said, I concede I will lose that argument and that moreover, there isn’t much of an argument to be made.  Die I will.” ~ Laura Pritchett

“Of all the mindfulness meditations, that on death is supreme” ~ Buddha

“Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.” ~ Rossiter Worthington Raymond

“Death – the last sleep? No, it is the final awakening.” ~ Walter Scott

The carport area is reserved for folks with special parking needs. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you kindly refrain from parking on Evans Drive beyond our property line. Car pooling is encouraged.  We also have a bike rack for cyclists!

  1. It was wonderful to find myself surrounded with such lovely women on Sunday (the 12th) having been invited by Michelle Venus, a new friend that I met at Club Pilates months ago. Running into her at Encore Bridal, where they were shopping for her daughters gown, she was so sweet to mention this gathering and invite me. I’m fairly new to Ft Collins and have been a bit isolated in grief (I lost my daughter to addiction June 2017) I was glad to begin to socialize a bit. Looking forward to more doings with you…thank you!
