Creating Peace

September 21st is The International Day of Peace, established in 1981 by a unanimous United Nations resolution.  Each year, this “Peace Day” provides a “globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace”.  We’ll celebrate this day and converse about what we can do as individuals and in community to nurture this vital mission on a daily basis!

Quotes to ponder

“Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” ~ Dalai Lama

“Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy and serenity.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh

“Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.” ~ John F. Kennedy

Looking Ahead/Notes of Interest

“Paths of Heart Presents…” House Concert Series – Our next concert will be Saturday, Oct. 5th with The Home Fires (Vicky Emerson and Sarah Morris) from Minneapolis.  We’ll have a potluck finger food and beverage intermission.  Suggested donation $20 at the door.  Mark your calendars!

We have recently learned that due to a serious knee injury, our Saturday, Oct. 19th concert with Tracy Grammer has been cancelled so that she can focus on rehab and repair.  We sure hope we can reschedule it, as we were SO looking forward to having her here with us for the concert as well as a guest appearance at Paths of Heart the next morning!  We send her our best wishes for grace and ease in her recovery.  We’ll keep you posted!

Gratitudes

Thanks to all who came last Sunday to honor and share great memories of Sid and of Judi! We’ll keep you posted as Judi and Rudy settle in to their new digs!

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Car-eography
You may park in the driveway, as well as diagonally along the north side of our property.  Should those areas become full, please park out on Hwy 1, which has plenty of space and a nice wide shoulder.  Do watch for passing cars as you are exiting and entering your vehicle, though! The carport area is reserved for folks with special parking needs. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you kindly refrain from parking on Evans Drive beyond our property line. Car pooling is encouraged.  We also have a bike rack for cyclists!

About Paths of Heart…

Paths of Heart is a high spirited, heart-centered community where we gather together in music, poetry, commentary, and dialogue to create and nurture joy, compassion, gratitude, and love – in our own lives and throughout the world.  Paths of Heart is a 501(c)(3) Human Services/Educational non-profit organization that uses the arts, especially, to encourage and propel seekers of a better, more peaceful world to find ways to serve, while becoming more kind and compassionate human beings.

We welcome you as we collectively and individually explore the sweet mysteries of life – this is an invitation into co-creation! Our gatherings are most every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 117 Evans Drive in north Fort Collins. Childcare is available (please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements).

We hope our paths cross soon!

“Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.” ― Rumi
