Celebrating the Life and Wisdom of Dr. King

Minister, activist, spokesman and leader in the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will forever be an inspiration to those who believe in and commit to equality, social justice, peace, and freedom in our world.  His passion and dedication to life was undeniable, and we remain forever changed and moved by his words and actions.  It seems we still have a long way to go to fulfill Dr. King’s dream of equality for all, yet his courage and character remain an impetus to lead our lives steeped in love, peace, and kindness.  Our celebration will include special music with Marty Rein on bass, and Cheri Nichols and Emma Sloniker joining us on vocals.  We’ll have a “Peace Potluck” after our gathering and you are invited to share your favorite poems or readings about peace during our meal together (as well as during our gathering).  Please remember to bring your own plates and utensils (we’ll provide cloth napkins, cups, and a variety of beverages) so we can have near zero waste.  Thank you!

Quotes to ponder

“I am convinced that love is the most durable power in the world. It is not an expression of impractical idealism, but of practical realism…To return hate for hate does nothing but intensify the existence of evil in the universe.” ~ MLK, Jr.

“I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.”
Mother Teresa

“Loving people live in a loving world.  Hostile people live in a hostile world.  But it’s the same world.” ~ Wayne Dyer

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.” ~ MLK, Jr.

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”

Car-eography
You may park in the driveway, as well as diagonally along the north side of our property.  Should those areas become full, please park out on Hwy 1, which has plenty of space and a nice wide shoulder.  Do watch for passing cars as you are exiting and entering your vehicle, though! The carport area is reserved for folks with special parking needs. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you kindly refrain from parking on Evans Drive beyond our property line. Car pooling is encouraged.  We also have a bike rack for cyclists!
