The Gift of Presence

This is the power of gathering: it inspires us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful; in a word, more alive. ~ Alice Waters

Welcome to Paths of Heart“- a high spirited, heart-centered community where we gather together in music, poetry, commentary, and dialogue to create and nurture joy, compassion, gratitude, and love – in our own lives and throughout the world.  Paths of Heart is a 501(c)(3) Human Services/Educational non-profit organization that uses the arts, especially, to encourage and propel seekers of a better, more peaceful world to find ways to serve, while becoming more kind and compassionate human beings.

We welcome you as we collectively and individually explore the sweet mysteries of life – this is an invitation into co-creation! Our gatherings are most every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 117 Evans Drive in north Fort Collins. Childcare is available (please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements).

We hope our paths cross soon!

The Gift of Presence

A Blessed Solstice and Merry Christmas to you!  As we’re busily wrapping presents for friends and family, we’ve been thinking about the greatest gift of all ~ that of presence and being fully present in the moment.  It’s easy to get “wrapped up” in the busyness and stress of the holiday season, but let’s consider what’s truly important ~ just BEing with those we love.  The gift of one’s time is a treasure, and we are blessed to share it with you for an hour or so most every Sunday.  Let’s steep in this most precious gift together and count our blessings as we head into the New Year.

“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?” ~ Dr. Suess

“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as it is about opening our hearts.” ~ Janice Maeditere

“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” ~ Roy L. Smith

Looking Ahead/Notes of Interest

At this time of year especially, we are looking for opportunities to serve others in our community.  A couple of options we invite you to participate in:

The Kid’s Closet at the First United Methodist Church is in need of any winter clothing, plus gloves, hats, jackets, pajamas, for school aged kids and teens, kid sizes 8 – adult XL. You can bring your donations to Paths of Heart and volunteers will deliver to The Kid’s Closet!

The Food Bank for Larimer County – While canned goods are always welcomed, the Food Bank encourages monetary donations, as they can actually provide $5 worth of food for every $1 donated!  You are welcome to bring a check to Paths on Sunday, and we will personally deliver to the Food Bank.

Paths of Heart recently participated in the spirit of Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day by donating to the following organizations:
The Carter Center
The Environmental Defense Fund
Homeward Alliance
SEVA Foundation
Water4
Human Rights Campaign
Partners in Health
Southern Poverty Law Center
Everytown for Gun Safety
Urban Affairs Coalition
FOCO Cafe
Children International

Thank you for your generosity which allows us to give a portion of your Paths of Heart donations to other worthy organizations.  Please consider Paths of Heart in your end of year giving plans!

Monday, December 24th, 7 pm – Our Annual Christmas Eve Celebration with music, poetry, and readings from a variety of holiday traditions around the world.  Space is limited; early arrival encouraged.  Love Offerings to Paths of Heart will be gratefully received.

King Soopers Neighborhood Reward Gift Cards – We encourage and appreciate your participation in this generous fundraising gift card program.  When you use your Paths of Heart Gift Card at King Soopers, 5% of your total purchases are rewarded to Paths of Heart.  It does not cost you anything extra – simply load your gift card at the check-out with any amount (up to $500) before you buy your groceries.  We have cards with an initial amount of $10 loaded on them.  This is a really easy way to support Paths of Heart!  Thank you!

We invite you to visit our website,www.pathsofheart.org. There you’ll find past newsletters, a newsletter sign-up form, more about our organization, a photo gallery, and a ‘donate’ button, for those who prefer to donate to our non-profit with a credit card .  Stop by for a visit and please share with friends!

‘Gratitudes’

Heaps of thanks to Judi Lucero, who regularly shares her gifts of music and flute playing with our community!  We are blessed!

CAR-EOGRAPHY *  You may park in the driveway, as well as diagonally along the north side of our property.  Should those areas become full, please park out on Hwy 1, which has plenty of space and a nice wide shoulder.  Please watch for cars as you are exiting and entering your vehicle, though! The carport area is reserved for folks with special parking needs. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you kindly refrain from parking on Evans Drive beyond our property line. Car pooling is encouraged.  We also have a bike rack for cyclists!

Yoga with Heart!

We do yoga here in our “community space” on Mondays and Wednesdays.  All levels are welcome to participate.  Let us know if you’re interested in joining this heart centered practice!

“Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.” ― Rumi

Please note, we are a “remove your shoes upon entering” household (what better way to bare our “souls”…!).  Feel free to bring slippers or thick socks for your comfort (and we always have extras!)
